The Way of the Future

In  the early 90"s  it was becoming apparent  that everything was about to change.  The introduction of the internet changed  everything from the way we listen to music to the way  we can now shop online or Google anything we need to find at the touch of a button,  it all happened so quickly we hardly had time  to realise it had even happened.  Well that change is about to happen again in the form of 3D Printing. It is now not a question  of whether 3D printers will come along, it is happening as we speak.

By using digital design the 3D Printer creates solid objects one layer at a time.

According to an October 2011 report by the Atlantic Council “Could 3D Printing Change the World”, these technologies could “up-end the last two centuries of approaches to design and manufacturing with profound geopolitical, economic, social, demographic, environmental, and security implications”^[2]. 

• Products can now be manufactured locally, so our reliance on countries like China to manufacture products will be significantly reduced.
• Products can be printed straight away removing the need to hold stock, thereby allowing small business's become mini factories without the need for warehousing.
• products can be tailor made to suit the customers individual needs.
• the need for assembly lines will be removed as the product can be printed out in one process.
